Melbourne is also home to Raytheon SI Government Solutions, where we are addressing one of our nation's most critical needs - cyber security.

The new domain of cyberspace allows for extensive information sharing on a scale never dreamed of two decades ago. In today's globally interconnected environment the organization, enterprise or government with the informational advantage will be the dominant player.

At the same time, the use of information systems and infrastructures has created serious risks to data transiting these systems. These risks are the result of vulnerabilities in the technologies themselves and in how information systems are being used.

In an effort to gain information advantage nations, criminals, terrorist groups, political activists and some corporations have seized the opportunity created by these vulnerabilities to engage in active information operations against critical systems. Our nation's adversaries have pushed the cyber domain into a war-fighting domain -- one that must be aggressively protected.

Raytheon's information security solutions expertise ensure that both a defensive and offensive posture are available in maintaining the integrity of critical networks and the sensitive data that they process. Whether its a bank wiring funds to an overseas corporation; an engineering organization sending sensitive drawings and product data to a manufacturing site in Asia, or a government intelligence agency delivering up-to-the-minute maps and situational awareness data to a remote field site -- in all of these cases, and many more, Raytheon's information security solutions expertise ensure that both the information sharing and security objectives are successfully met.

At Raytheon SI Government Solutions, we are looking for security research engineers to work on a variety of projects related to software protection, security auditing, vulnerability research and malicious mobile code. Because of the highly technical nature of this work, a strong background in low-level programming and operating systems is essential, as is previous experience with application security, reverse engineering or malware. Required skills include:

  • C/C++ on Windows and Win32 API/internals
  • TCP/IP networking and common networking hardware
  • Knowledge of contemporary security concepts and problems
  • Software IDA pro and OllyDbg is highly desirable.

Candidates should be highly motivated and able to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment that rewards technical excellence. A bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering or a related discipline is desired. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain a government security clearance up to and including a full-scope polygraph.
