Raytheon is committed to promoting a high performing work force by supporting the diverse
work/life needs of its employees while meeting its business needs. Over the past two years,
the Company has put this commitment into action and, as the results of our recent Employee
Opinion Survey show, we've made good progress in work/life effectiveness at Raytheon. We
will continue to promote a culture that demonstrates the value we place on employees and
helps them in their efforts to become more effective at work and at home. This information
provides you with an overview of the work/life benefits that help employees balance their
personal lives with their work lives. Our work/life benefits include:
Adoption Assistance
Designed to offset the out-of-pocket costs associated with adopting a child. You can
receive up to a maximum of $4,000 in adoption assistance benefits for each finalized adoption. This
amount could be a taxable benefit depending upon financial guidelines as established by the federal
government.
Discounts
Raytheon offers its employees a variety of discounts through company agreements and memberships.
Raytheon employees are automatically enrolled as members of many popular museums and historical
sites. In addition, Raytheon offers many other discounts on goods and services through specific
agreements with vendors.
Educational Assistance
Raytheon helps you continue your education by reimbursing tuition and selected fees for approved
courses or degree programs.
Employee Assistance and Resource/Referral Services
Raytheon offers LifeResources, through United Behavioral Health. This confidential program
combines a work/life resource and referral program (childcare and eldercare) with an Employee
Assistance Program which provides counseling and referral services to help employees handle
everyday challenges and major life events.
Enhanced Elder Care
Raytheon's enhanced Eldercare Program, available to you through
LifeResources, is designed to help you and your elderly parents
or other close relatives address complex eldercare needs.
Raytheon employees and their elderly parents or other close
relatives have access to an in-home health assessment and
ongoing case management services. Specifically, the following
services are available at no charge to the employee or
elderly family member:
- A personalized, in-home assessment by an experienced geriatric
specialist, such as a licensed nurse or social worker. The
assessment of the elder's current living situation helps identify
barriers and offers solutions for a safer and healthier environment.
- A written evaluation report reflecting the individual needs of the
elder that summarizes the in-home assessment and offers
recommendations for current and future services.
- A comprehensive service plan based on the report. After the plan is
reviewed by the elder and family members, a Care Advocate can work
with a team of professionals, such as social workers, nurse
practitioners, rehabilitation specialists, and/or pharmacists to
develop a plan that provides the elder or responsible party with
information and a range of options and resources.
Flexible Work Schedules
Innovation, creativity and flexibility are important in order for Raytheon to be able to respond
effectively to changing business needs. Raytheon also recognizes the importance of workplace
flexibility for its employees. Raytheon supports a variety of flexible work arrangements including
compressed work weeks, flextime, job sharing, reduced hours and telecommuting. The particular
flexibility options will vary depending upon the type of work performed and the work location,
but examples of some that are available include:
- Every other Friday off (9/80) an employee works 9 hours Monday through Friday
of week A, 9 hours Monday through Wednesday of week B, 8 hours Thursday of week B and then gets Friday of week B off
(works 80 hours over a two week period).
- Every Friday afternoon off an employee works 9 hours Monday through Thursday
and 4 hours on Friday morning (works 40 hours each week).
- Standard work week an employee works 8 hours Monday through Friday
(40 hours each week).
- Modified work week an employee may work either more or less than
8 hours in any day of a pay period as long as the balance of hours worked at
the end of the pay period is 80 hours.

Reimbursement Accounts
The health care and dependent care reimbursement accounts (HCRA and DCRA) allow you to reduce
your taxable income by paying for certain eligible health and/or dependent care expenses before
taxes are withheld from your pay.
Scholars Program
The Raytheon Scholars Program provides scholarships to children of Raytheon employees, rewarding
them for academic achievement.
Transportation Benefit
Raytheon believes in good community relations and
in modeling stewardship of the environment. Currently
offered in most states, the Transportation Benefit
provides savings on commuting expenses through pre-tax
payroll deductions. Only Raytheon commuting expenses
are eligible including mass transit costs, vanpool expenses and parking. WageWorks administers
the benefit.
How the Plan Works:
Similar to Raytheon's other reimbursement
accounts, the Transportation Benefit allows you to
have before-tax deductions taken out of your
paychecks to pay for eligible expenses associated
with your commute to work. Unlike either Dependent
Care Reimbursement Accounts (DCRA), however, how
benefits are paid depends upon what type of
eligible expenses you have.
